Tea Party time ...

Here is a "pretty book" I created inspired by the video posts of Mystele. I promise you after you visit Mystele's blog site you will find new purpose in everything 'used' in your environment and want to try your hand at creating your own "pretty book" and if you do please share with pictures!

Enjoy,
Sandra

  2. Thanks, I am busy trying to get caught up with my blogging views but also wanted to post something new. Every time I start to read the blogs I follow hours just race by - I start reading one blog and then I get linked to another new blog and you know how it goes... such great art to view and so many great stories being shared.

Saw you posted some new pictures on your Flickr account - great stuff! I am so jealous of your warm climate right now. We are experiencing a huge snowstorm in PA - in OCTOBER ;-) It takes a snowstorm to get me to relax LOL!

  3. Thank you for your lovely comment and for visiting my blog Sandra! xxooxx It's 75 degrees right now which is down right cold for us! I might have to pull the sheet up over me tonight! :) I hope the snow storm is keeping you busy making your beautiful art. I'm glad I came back to this book again. It really is fabulous.

  4. LOL!! I have to laugh because I just turned up my thermostat to 78 to get my house to get warmer (its an old house and the first floor reads 65 degrees, brrrrrrr). Thanks for revisiting this post. I was in a rush the first time I posted and decided to take my time and add more pictures the second time around. The book was a lot of fun to make and I think I might explore in making more - all items used were either scraps from old projects or found objects; including the brown paper bags that make up the pocket pages. I applied three coats of non toxic varnish to the front and back covers - shiny ;-) Keep those covers tucked.

  5. Hi Sandra,

Hope you are well. Feels like forever since I checked my blog. Life has been quite busy. Not sure why, but it has been. I am sad to admit I have not played with any art supplies since the beginning of Oct. Sad, isn't it?

I am so loving this mini you've created. I loved created stuff like this when I use to scrapbook. You did an amazing job. Love the secret pockets, paper and details. I will be back soon to see the rest of your post that I have missed.

    hugs,
    Maggie

  6. Hi Maggie,
I know the feeling of being overwhelmed these days. I too plan to get more organized and more in tune with my blog reading, posting, and online art community. The days just seem to past by too fast!

    Hugs back to ya,
    Sandra

  8. Alicia, so dear of you to take the time to read my blog and follow along. I hope you get a chance to visit Mysteele's blog and youtube videos she is so inspirational to me and really got me going with creating this of recycled book. She calls them "pretty books" and I must say after you put all the pieces together to make up each page it sure does look pretty. Makes a great project during the holidays. I do a lot of art with my 9 year old niece Amelia and I know the joy it brings to create with kids. If you do... please post pictures I love seeing all the beautiful designs and color schemes ;-)
    Hugs, Sandra

  11. What a cool book, Sandra! I love anything (almost) that is old/old looking, vintage, antique and a little shabby. Thanks so much for sharing this with us.

  12. @Anonymous Hi Kate, thanks for stopping over to read my blog and your kind words. I really loved making this little book and have not yet added photos. I've received such positive feedback on it that I am thinking of possibly selling it on my Etsy shop so I can share with others and it would spark me to make another book. I LOVE making BOOKS - I just don't have the time to fill them up. Sometimes I think I'm a bit ADHD once I finish an art project I'm off to start another (and most of the time I have multiple projects going on at the same time). Its fun and keeps me excited!

  13. What a gorgeous, colourful book. I'm really into recycling and make a junk journal which uses a myriad of cast offs, it's such fun. Thanks for visiting my blog too.
